Cornell University Medical Center – 1983-5
It all began with research and development in cardiac imaging
Programmed in 8086 assembly language to showcase a sequence of heart scan images for medical analysis by doctors
Pitney Bowes – 1985-95
Spearheaded the research and development of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology utilizing C language on Unix systems with Sun Microsystems hardware
Oversaw a team of over 45 employees in the custom mailing inserter development department
General Binding Corporation – 1995-03
Interfaced GBC paper punches and binders to Xerox Docutech printers
Controlled punches and binders using C language using Rabbit microprocessors
Bell + Howell – 2004-14
Re-entered the mailing inserter industry, specializing in machine control, barcode technology, embedded systems and business applications.
Extensive use of the .Net toolkit, featuring WPF and Windows Forms for GUIs and C# for programming. Utilized Microchip PIC processors for device control.
Monsanto Corporation – 2014-16
Optimized production at Monsanto’s amazing automated greenhouse using .Net and interfacing to an Oracle database.
Wide-ranging imaging projects focused primarily on corn and soybeans, employing Canon SLR cameras, MATLAB, and eventually incorporating OpenCV
Cell Microsystems – 2016-24
Developed an advanced vision system featuring an inverted microscope with multiple motor controls for various cellular applications, including single-cell and clonal analysis.
Developed the full implementation stack, encompassing machine control, real-time image processing, and graphical display using WPF, XAML, and C#.
